Like her former RBD bandmate Maite Perroni, actress and singer Dulce María has dropped a hot new single. According to the Huffington Post, this weekend the Mexican star released new song "Lágrimas" ("Tears") featuring singer Julión álvarez.

"Lágrimas" is very different from Perroni's bachata-flavored first single "Tu y Yo," because it blends "elements of Regional music and modern-day pop" and is "rather catchy," as the Huffington Post noted.

"Both instruments and genres merge. This is the most unique song from this [new] record. It is a pop song, but it features banda singer Julión álvarez, who adds a Mexican touch to it," explained Dulce María, according to site En El Show.

This grupero ballad is the first single from Dulce Maria's new album, following her 2011 EP "Extranjera Segunda Parte." The song, which according to TV notas was recorded in Brazil, follows the story of a complicated romance that eventually leads the couple to tears.

"Lágrimas" is her first single after her 2010 studio album "Extranjera," which included hits such as "Inevitable", "Ingenua" and "Ya No."

"I'm excited to show you my new musical work in which I put all my heart into," said the singer, according to StarMedia.

The 27-year-old singer was featured in Swedish singer-songwriter Basshunter's song "Wake UP Beside Me," the third single from his album "Calling Time," which was released in June.

Dulce Maria's new album is set to hit the stores later this year. In the meantime, she will star in Univision's telenovela "Mentir Para Vivir" ("Lie So You Can Live"), which premieres on Oct. 7.

Back in June, the singer shared news of her new role through her Twitter account. "I will return to the small screen with a special performance (only for three months) #mentiraparavivir," she wrote.

There are still no details Dulce María's character on the telenovela. The show will be produced by Rosy Ocampo, and also stars David Zepeda and Mayrin Villanueva.

The "Inevitable" singer promised her fans more details once she starts shooting some scenes. "We are adjusting and closing details yet, that's what we are up to...until Friday, warriors!" she wrote.

One of Dulce Maria's last performances in a soap opera was in 2009's "Verano de Amor" ("Summer of Love"), from the same producer of "Rebelde." Last year, the actress auditioned for the character that ultimately was played by Sherlyn González in "Amores Verdaderos" ("Tue Love"). She also made a cameo in the Brazilian version of "Rebelde," where she portrayed herself.

The actress' last appearance in a soap opera was Televisa's "Mis XV" in 2012.
