Prestigious magazine Forbes' recently released a list of the best paid athletes which includes 15 Mexican athletes who have jumped to international fame for their outstanding participation in various sports.

Even though one might think that soccer is the discipline comprised of the best paid Mexican athletes, Forbes has revealed that baseball pays its athletes best, followed by boxing. 

According to Excélsior, only three professional footballers made the list, which was dominated by baseballers and boxers, an F1 pilot and a basketball player.

Adrián González Sabin, otherwise known as "El Titán" and player for the Los Angeles Dodgers, tops the select group by earning $21 million. Conversely, Javier "Chicharito" Hernández, the best paid Mexican footballer, earns $4.5 million.

In the second spot on the list is baseballer Jorge De La Rosa, a player for the Colorado Rockies, who earns $11 million. Positions three and four are for boxers Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez with an estimated salary of $10 million and Juan Manuel Márquez, who after beating Manny Pacquiao received $8 million.

The only three Mexican footballers that are on the Forbes Top 15 list are the already mentioned "Chicharito" in the seventh spot, Oswaldo Sánchez of Santos Laguna who earns $2 million and Jesús Corona, who earns more than $1 million.

9. Oswaldo Sanchez (Santos/Liga Bancomer MX) $2 million
10. Joakim Soria (Texas Rangers/MLB) $2 million
11. Marco Estrada (Milwaukee Brewers/MLB) $1.9 million
12. Sergio "Checo" Pérez (McLaren/F1) $1.9 million
13. Jesús Corona (Cruz Azul/Liga Bancomer MX) $1.6 million
14. Gustavo Ayón (Milwaukee Bucks/NBA) $1.5 million
