Soon, the "Samsung Unpacked 2013: Episode 2" event will begin in Berlin. Watch the livestream of Samsung's announcement of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear smartwatch here.

The event begins at 1 p.m. EST, where you'll get to see the newest flagship smartphone from Samsung unveiled, along with the much-anticipated smartwatch, which is reportedly called the Galaxy Gear.

Before the unveiling Wednesday, details on both devices have been leaked several times online. The Galaxy Note 3 has been covered so much that there's hardly any expectation of a surprise coming from the announcement. It's expected to be a 5.68-inch (or above) phablet, beating the screen size of last year's Samsung Galaxy Note 2. It will probably have a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, with 3GB of RAM. Later versions will have an Exynos 5420 processor, made by Samsung. The device is also expected to have a 13-megapixel camera with Optical Image Stabilization and run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box. Samsung is expected to have a release date for the Galaxy Note 3 soon after its unveiling, perhaps as soon as mid to late September.

One thing might surprise us about the Galaxy Note 3. There have been late murmurs of a fingerprint scanner, with some insiders confirming that the rumor is correct and others nay-saying. We'll see soon if Samsung beat Apple to the fingerprint scanner punch.

Much less concrete information is known about the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, though a screenshot of a prototype leaked online recently. However, it's not known how feature-poor the prototype is compared to the final product (some are hoping, for Samsung's sake, that the final Galaxy Gear has a lot more going for it). Right now we know that the new Galaxy Gear is likely to have a 3-inch diagonal face, a heartbeat sensor, a 4-megapixel camera, NFC, Bluetooth and some version of Android.

Watch the livestream below at 1 p.m. EST to see the Galaxy Gear revealed and find out just what it is and what it can do.
