In Argentina, the story of an eleven years old girl who was "traded" for a refrigerator by her mother has shocked citizens.

According to La Nación, Pabla Cesarina Monzón Aldana, a 30-year-old woman and resident of Villa Itatí, went to Paraguay last October to bring back her daughter, whose name has not been revealed, to Argentina.

Once in Argentina, Monzón Aldana put the girl to work to get extra money to provide for the rest of the family because her father was sick. Eventually, the 11-year-old girl was "traded" to a neighbor for a fridge and other goods.

The 30-year-old neighbor, whose arrest is not certain to have happened, sexually abused the girl and forced her to work in a clandestine workshop in Bernal, Argentina. The workshop where the girl was force to work in made aluminum pots and other tools, according to Univisión.

Univision reported that the precarious economic conditions of the family made Pabla Cesarine take the decision to trade her daughter for a refrigerator.

On August 29, Argentinian police officers raided the workshop, where it was discovered that the people there worked under precarious conditions. five other Paraguayan teenages between the ages 14 and 17 were also found.

Local authorities detained the minor's mother. She now faces charges for "facilitating aggravated prostitution of minors and corruption of minors all concurrently," reported La Nación.

For the moment there has been no further information on the man that abused the girl.
