Oscar 2014 Nominations Predictions: James Franco's 'Spring Breakers' Performance to Be Campaigned for Supporting Actor

A24 is gearing up to promote James Franco for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in "Spring Breakers."

The small distribution company is prepping their Oscar campaign for Franco's enigmatic performance as Alien. The distributor released art work for the awards campaign accomponied by the subtle slogan "CONSIDER THIS SH*T." The poster also shows Franco holding two Oscar statues.

A24 told the the Hollywood Reporter, "James Franco has created a character so indelible it deserves recognition. We are excited to be able to support it with a campaign and know the impact of Alien will last far past this awards season. We plan to create an awards campaign that is thematically consistent with the film itself."

"Spring Breakers" opened in March and became one of the most successful films for A24 thus far. The movie also received rave reviews for Franco's acting. Peter Travers from Rolling Stone called his performance a "Tour de force," while the Village Voice said that Franco pulled off "a full-blown Method performance (with an emphasis on 'meth') that can also be seen as a knowing lampoon of Method acting."

Christy Lemire of the Associated Press wrote, "James Franco steals the whole movie away when he arrives about halfway through as a cornrowed, wanna-be gangster rapper named Alien (pronounced a-LEEN). It's a showy, wonderfully weird performance, but Franco also finds the vulnerability beneath the bravado. And in playing a complicated, flawed ringleader, he's much more effective here than he was in 'Oz the Great and Powerful.'''

Franco was nominated for his performance in 2010's "127 Hours." The actor has been busy this year appearing a number of films including "Lovelace," "The Iceman," "This is the End," "Interior Leather Bar," "As I Lay Dying," and "Oz the Great and Powerful." He was most recently seen in "Palo Alto" and "Child of God," which appeared at the Venice Film Festival.

A24 will begin running the ad in the coming weeks as the Oscar race heats up.
