Although Apple has not released the next-generation iPhone, a video has appeared online delivering a scratch test on the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S.

In the video the folks from JailBreakNation showcase a prototype of the next Apple smartphone, known as the iPhone 5S.

The gold variant of the iPhone 5S encounters a scratch test along with the black and white models of the iPhone 5.

Two tests were conducted on the smartphones. The first involved a coin and the second used a knife.

While conducting the first test with a quarter, the gold iPhone 5S and black iPhone 5 "fared pretty well" in the first round of the coin scratches. However, when the quarter was rubbed onto the devices harder, "nothing has affected the devices" except for a bit of silver stains on the black model.

The coin-scratch test continued for the sides of the Apple smartphones. The gold iPhone 5S saw "very little" scratches in comparison to the black iPhone 5.

Finally, the knife test begins. The black iPhone 5 was first take the knife's scratches. The iPhone 5 suffered visible and perhaps lasting damage. For the golden iPhone 5S, the scratches are more visible than the iPhone 5.

Ultimately, a black model of the Apple smartphone is preferred than the gold variant.

"The scratches caused by the coin did virtually no damage to the gold iPhone 5S while they caused quite a problem with the black iPhone 5. Because of the materials underneath the black version shows obvious holes in the paint that look terrible, this however was not the case with the iPhone 5S," posted Freddy Kellison-Linn of JailBreakNation.

He added, "When it came to the knife test overall the damage looks worse on the gold iPhone 5S. This is because the long marks and deep scratches are more visible with the gold background. The iPhone 5 black shows practically nothing other than the parts where the silver underneath shows."

As Latinos Post reported, Apple is planning the golden iPhone's debut for Sept. 10. Apple, however, as per company policy, has not commented on the rumors or speculation about the golden iPhone or event dates.
