Vicente Fernandez Suffers Pulmonary Thrombosis, Remains Hospitalized In Stable Condition

Mexican singer Vicente Fernandez remains hospitalized in stable condition in Guadalajara after he suffered a pulmonary thrombosis on Tuesday. 

Although the situation is reported to be serious, the singer's condition is getting better according to Vicente Fernandez Jr. in an interview with Mexican newspaper El Universal.

"Despite the serious situation, we are happy because the doctors told us he is getting better. He has a 50 percent improvement of the clot that was found which is favorable," said his son, Vicente Fernandez Jr. to El Universal.

"The pulmonary thrombosis was detected in a medical checkup. Thanks to these periodic tests, which have been a benefit to my dad's health, the clot was detected because it's an asymptomatic situation since it doesn't hurt or produce discomfort," he added.

In a press release quoted by the El Informador newspaper, Vicente Fernandez stated that the diagnosis of pulmonary thrombosis occurred during a routine checkup. He also stated that the singer is having checkups every two or three months for 10 years now, as a measure to prevent prostate cancer.

Fernandez, one of the most renowned Mexican singers, is in recovery with a favorable prognosis, so he's expected to be discharged soon. According to El Informador, the singer known as "El Charro de Huentitan" assured his fans that he would be fine.

"I'm very calm, the doctors told me I'll be fine, the worst part is over. So Vicente will last a while! I thank to the public and media who always worry about me. I know I'll be fine but with your prayers I will be better," he said.
