Watch Dogs is one of the games gamers are looking forward to the most, and the new IP from Ubisoft is set to wow gamers on both current and next gen consoles when it is released in November. Now Dominic Guay, a senior producer for the game, has discusses the main character of the game, Aiden Pearce, and the influences the developer had while creating the character.

Speaking to ZoomIn Games, Guay reveals that they feel like Aiden is similar to some popular television characters that are known for having dark sides to them. Specifically, he revealed the influence that moralistic serial killer Dexter Morgan, the title character from the Showtime show Dexter, and science teacher turned meth kingpin Walter White from Breaking Bad are both huge influences for Ubisoft when it came to creating Aiden:

"The way we designed him is that he would not necessarily be a good guy or a bad guy. So we're inspired by characters like Dexter or the series like Breaking Bad, where the main character is not necessarily a good guy, but he's a person with flaws, with qualities; someone we can relate to and that you will bond with even though he does sometimes things that are not necessarily good."

In addition, much like the aforementioned Walter White and Dexter Morgan, as the game goes on Aiden will grow and change to reflect the experiences the character goes through as he goes down his path to vengeance:

"But Aiden is not a bad guy...He becomes a vigilante, so he is there to inflict his justice on the city of Chicago."

This journey will change based on how the player plays through Watch Dogs, and the decisions that the player make will ultimately choose how the story of Aiden plays out.  It will be interesting to see to what degree players can control the story of the game, and if users choose retain more of Aiden's goodness over the course of the game, or decide to be a vengeful killing machine focused only on bringing his enemies to his knees.

Ubisoft is very confident that Watch Dogs will be the next big video games series, and are already preparing a sequel to the game. It was also announced during Sony's press conference at Gamescom earlier this month that the game will also have a movie based on it, so gamers should expect to hear about Watch Dogs a lot over the next few years.
