The European Super Cup between Chelsea and Bayern Munich takes place Friday between Bayern Munich and Chelsea. During a press conference, Bayern Munich captain Phillip Lahm talked about his expectations for the game and about his coach Pep Guardiola.

"The atmosphere is great in the team and we've never won the Super Cup before so our task is to win it for Munich," Lahm said, according to ESPN. "It's an additional motivation."

Munich is looking to give Guardiola its first trophy of the season; the team lost the German Super Cup to Borussia Dortmund earlier in July. Many have questioned whether the slow and methodical pace of Guardiola's style has been able to give Munich the same attacking brilliance that it had last season under Jupp Heynckes, but Lahm defended his new coach.

"He is a very meticulous worker who sets great store by tactics, thus we've started working on numerous aspects and I think we will still require some time to bring it up to perfection," Lahm added. "He is an excellent manager and we have immediately realized this since his arrival."

Another major factor in this match is the fact that Bayern Munich will get a chance to exact revenge on Chelsea. The Blues defeated Munich in the final of the 2012 Champions League on penalties. Midfielder Thomas Muller also spoke about taking down the English team in the upcoming game.

"Last season was very positive as far as results are concerned so I don't think there's any lingering bitterness there [regarding the defeat to Chelsea]. We were able to compensate for that bitterly lost final with our wins last year," said Muller. "We are up there with the very best and we want to prove that. We haven't won this cup yet and that is an additional motivation to play our best in the match."
