Bayern Munich star Bastian Schweinsteiger could be available to play for his squad when it takes on Chelsea in the European Super Cup.

"Bastian Schweinsteiger did not injure himself seriously in the 1-1 draw at Freiburg," the team reported, according to IBN Live. "The medical examination showed he sustained a strained ankle. On Wednesday and Thursday he will be treated intensively so that ideally he can take part in the final pre-game training on Friday."

The match pits the winners of the Champions League and the Europa League in a game that will determine European dominance. Bayern Munich is coming off a Champions League victory while the English side took home the Europa League trophy.

However, this match has a tremendous amount of drama attached to it. In 2011-12 Chelsea defeated Bayern Munich in the Champions League final; this will be the first match between the two sides since that fateful day.

"We do have a small score to settle, even if we can't completely wipe away the memory of losing the Champions League final," Munich's Thomas Muller said in an interview with Bayern's official site. "You don't always reach the Super Cup final, so we'll do everything we can to win the trophy."

The game will also see a rematch between Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho. The two coaches had a difficult relationship while they were coaches of rival clubs Barcelona and Real Madrid. Mourinho recently stated that he felt Guardiola's Munich was a weaker side, but Muller stepped to his new coach's defense.

"Pep Guardiola has made a few changes to our team tactics but not really to us as individuals," he said. "Every player has his strengths and weaknesses. If Arjen [Robben] is out on the right, he does things differently compared to me in the same position."
