It’s almost Labor Day weekend. The orange glow breathes deep within gray coals. The sweet crack of opening cans serves as a farewell to a fading summer. The vibrant hum of conversation melts into a celebratory soundtrack while the sun sets on late August. It’s a day to remember and a day to forget. It’s a day to remember the social and economic achievements of American workers. It’s a day to forget the worries that rest on your shoulders.

Luckily, the glory of Labor Day will help ease the pain of a tragic absence. Due to the festivities, the hit series “Bones” is doomed for an extra two week hiatus. It’s usual Monday night slot will be traded for hotdogs and hamburgers. But despite the crippling blow, it’s imperative not to lose track of what’s most important. Friends and Family. Plus, “Bones” will return two weeks later with “a lot of surprises” and major “changes” for several key characters.

In a recent teaser video, actors David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel hint at what’s to come and offer a first official look at the upcoming Season 9.

As the season kicks into full gear, fans will see a guilt-ridden Sweets go AWOL from the Jeffersonian, Hodgins and Angela voice their opposing opinions about a particular “once in a lifetime opportunity,” and Booth and Brennan’s relationship take a mighty turn for the worse. Plus, as Deschanel hints, "each year they try to build upon the last year and make it more gorey." You can watch the video here at TVLine.

To further fuel the zealous flames, executive producer Stephen Nathan promises that the first six will be spectacular. "We wanted to make sure that we leave that first six with a very big episode," Nathan said. "I can tell you definitely that Pelant figures in very, very, very, very heavily within the first six episodes, but where he appears and/or vanishes, I can't really say at this point."

Enjoy your Labor Day. Tend to the grill, your loved ones, and the summer’s last case(s) of beer. Don’t dwell on the prolonged absence of “Bones,” no matter how thrilling it promises to be.

“Bones” will return to FOX on Monday, September 16 at 8 p.m.
