Manchester United manager David Moyes has confirmed that his club has not made an offer for Gareth Bale, but did not dismiss the possibility of pursuing the 24-year-old Welshman.

During a press conference following United's 0-0 draw against Chelsea on Monday, Moyes told reporters that the club was always interested in improving itself and would always look at the best players available.

"I said at the start when I got the job that Manchester United will always be interested in the best players, and we're always looking to try and improve the team," he said, according to ESPN. "The owners have given me every opportunity to bring in who I want, and we'll continue to try and find those players. The board and myself would always be looking to sign who we think are the best players, whoever they are.

He added, "It's been tough in this window, but we're always looking at the best players. I can't give you any more."

United has been rumored as one of the clubs interested in signing Bale in the event that the 100 million euro deal with Real Madrid falls through. While some consider such a suggestion ludicrous, other reports indicate that the two teams are at odds with one another.

ESPN reports: "Sources have told ESPN that [Bale] is hugely frustrated with the situation and determined to push the deal through. Complicating matters is the fact that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has grown increasingly irritated with the Spanish club's conduct over the past few days, as they continue to behave as if the deal is already completed. A stage to unveil Bale was erected at the Bernabeu at the weekend, while there was also a technical error when Real jerseys with the player's name and the number 11 were visible on the Madrid side's website."
