Novak Djokovic headlines Day 2 of the U.S. Open with the number one ranked player taking on Lithuania's Ricardas Berankis during the tournament's night session.

Djokovic, winner of the 2013 Australian Open, has struggled a bit going into the U.S. Open, having lost to Rafael Nadal in the Roger Cup semi-finals, in Montreal, and American John Isner in the Western & Southern Open, in Cincinnati, in the quarterfinals.

"I thought I played quite decent in these two weeks, just that both matches that I lost were 7-6 or 7-5 in the third set and in important moments I wasn't finding that maybe extra strength to be calm and to play the right shots," said Djokovic. "That's what happens. You go through these periods. But my confidence is still there. This is a Grand Slam, so it is different from any other event."

Victoria Azarenka, the number two seed in the world, faces Dinah Pfizenmaier of Germany in the second match late match Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Azarenka, the 2013 Australian Open champion, is looking to avenge her 2012 U.S. Open finals lose to Serena Williams last year, who was two points away from defeating the top-ranked player in the world.

"I never look back, I always look forward. My head doesn't spin all the way back," said Azarenka, regarding her lose to Williams. "It will always be a special moment because I felt like that whole tournament, that final match left a big mark on my future career. I still feel that way."

In other Day 2 action, number seven seed Roger Federer will face off against Slovakian Grega Zemlja, which was delayed due to rain on Monday. Isner and fellow American Sam Querrey play today, going up against Italy's Filippo Volandri and Guido Pella of Argentina, respectively, while Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki plays Ying-Ying Duan of China at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
