Mexican singer and television host Diego Schoening, known for being a member of musical group "Timbiriche," will replace Omar Germenos on Telemundo's morning show "Un Nuevo Día," according to Latin Times.

Back in June, Schoening co-hosted the show with Germenos and the rest of the team, the Times reported. He also has a close friendship with producer of the show Magda Rodríguez.

The 44-year-old artist started his music career in 1981, when he joined "Timbiriche," where he shared the stage with Thalía and Paulina Rubio. The group disbanded in 1994, but reunited in 2007 to celebrate 25 years since the beginning of the group.

Schoening released two solo albums: his first, "Voy A Mí," in 1999, and 10 years later he released his second studio album, "Lo Que Soy."

He also hosted entertainment show "Estrellas Hoy," for Estrella TV, until he was replaced by Fabián Lavalle late last year.

Last week, it was reported Mexican TV host Ana María Canseco was joining "Un Nuevo Día" on Sept. 9 to fill Germenos' gap after the presenter was fired in early August.

"I am so happy to be back on television in my new home, Telemundo, and to be part of the mornings of our audience that has followed me for so long and has shown me lots of love," the 45-year-old said in a statement.

On Aug. 8, Telemundo announced that show regular Germenos had been let go. "Telemundo confirms that Omar Germenos is no longer with 'Un Nuevo Dia.' We appreciate his work, dedication and professionalism as co-host of the network's morning show. We wish him all the best in his future plans," a network's spokesperson said to Latin Times.

According to the Times, Telemundo didn't explain its reasons for firing Germenos. Regardless of why he lost his job, it was apparently a surprise for the TV presenter. He told Latin Times he saw himself living in Miami for at least another five years.

"I feel fine and comfortable in Miami for at least the next, at least, five years. Normally, in this industry, the whole family travels when they give you work. We don't want to do that as we have the mindset to stay in one place for many years. So, we were testing Miami for the past three years and we've decided we would like to stay for at least five more years," said Germenos.

"Un Nuevo Día" airs weekdays on Telemundo at 7 a.m. EST.
