After the former manager of Guadalajara's Chivas, Benjamín Galindo, was removed from his post owing to the negative results the team obtained in the Apertura 2013 tournament of Mexican football, the team has officially introduced Juan Carlos Ortega as their new manager.

According to Mexican newspaper El Economista, on August 19, the former coordinator of minor national selections was introduced as Galindo's successor. The team hopes to counteract the scarce results the team has obtained since last season when the "holy flock" finished in second-to-last place. In the past seasons the Guadalajara club has only managed to qualify once in the final phase.

The decision to terminate Galindo happened after Chivas lost against Puebla 4-2 and after the team and its manager barely managed 4 points in five matches, placing them 15th out of 18 first division teams.

"We can't say that things are going to get better on their own, but the team has resources, it's an extraordinary roster and they haven't developed their talents due to 'x' circumstances. We know where we must go, and how to stimulate the team," declared Ortega in a press conference.

Ortega, who was interim manager for the team for two matches in the Apertura 2005 Tournament, will debued on August 20 in the match against the Sinaloa Dorados in a key duel in the MX Cup. Next Friday, the team will face Querétaro for the seventh date of the Apertura tournament.

In regards to the new acquisition, Dennis Te Kloese, VP of sports of Chivas declared, "We need a positive step that gives hope and the results we need," Mexican newspaper La Crónica reported.

Throughout the first six weeks of the Apertura tournament, the Guadalajara team has won one match, tied another and lost three.
