A new twitter leak from @evleaks is quite puzzling. On Tuesday, the notoriously accurate tech leaker said, "Samsung Galaxy S III mini (SM-G730A "Golden") for AT&T," with a picture of what can only be described as the nearly year old Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini with AT&T labeling on the back. Is AT&T really going to give the Galaxy S3 Mini a release date now?

That's what seems to be happening. During a late summer, when the Galaxy S4 Mini is still not available in the U.S., and the HTC One Mini just got an Aug. 23 release date for AT&T, it looks like the fastest wireless carrier in the U.S. will be releasing the mini version of last year's Samsung flagship as well. And on the same release date: If you look closely at the date on the Galaxy S3 mini's display, you'll see "Fri, August 23," marked on the upper left-hand corner.

There's no telling if the AT&T U.S. Galaxy S3 mini will have different specs than the international version, which launched last year in November, but it's likely not much work has gone into changing the handset.

The international Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini has a 480 x 800p Super AMOLED touchscreen display that is four inches in diameter. It comes with 8GB or 16GB internal storage, but can be expanded up to another 32GB with a microSD card. The device is powered by a dual core 1GHz Cortex A9 processor with 1GB of RAM assisting.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 mini comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and some of the Galaxy goodies that make Samsung a popular choice, including NFC and smile detection. It comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a secondary webcam for face to face chatting and selfies. The handset was available in White, Black, Brown, Gray, Red, and Blue, but perhaps the "Golden" mentioned by @evleaks means that the AT&T version will have a new color option. Perhaps not though - we'll have to wait until Friday to find out.

AT&T has not confirmed the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini for release and no pricing details are known, but expect the Galaxy S3 Mini, if truly being released by AT&T, to be quite cheap.
