The hit series "Homeland" has become one of the most riveting action thriller series on television. With only two seasons under its belt, it's roped in a generous following that swears by its intensities and crafty inner workings. While it is only a TV show, it highlights the dangers and perils of the CIA. Now as the third season approaches fans prepare themselves for new episodes that promise to keep them on the edge of seats, if not falling off completely. In hopes to contain the overflow of excitement, here's a roundup of what fans should expect from the new season.

For starters, Brody's whereabouts and complicated future remain at the core of season 3 anticipation. "There are points in the season where you will question whether Brody does want to live," Damian Lewis, who plays Brody, said in a recent interview. "Uppermost in his mind is his family, always. But honestly, at this point, if he's caught, he's going to the chair."

"There is so much overwhelming evidence against him and there is such a great need for a scapegoat and for the CIA to make a recovery, and for the US president, that fictional president who is there at the White House at the time, to make a recovery [and] bring someone to justice," Lewis added.

During a recent interview at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour, co-creator Alex Gansa claimed that it "would be a betrayal" to inform fans when exactly Brody would return. However, he did hint that it will not happen in the first two episodes of season three. Fans will have to wait to catch their first official glimpse of the rouge marine sergeant.

For those who simply can't wait, a new trailer shows that Brody has altered his physical appearance in attempt to avoid capture. The new look includes a bald head and a rather weathered aura. Check out the trailer below.

Finally, Entertainment Weekly has just released an exclusive preview featuring Lewis, Claire Danes, Morena Baccarin and Mandy Patinkin as they talk about what's in store for season 3. Watch it here.

"Homeland" returns to Showtime September 29.
