Singer Miguel was arrested for drunk driving on Thursday morning in Los Angeles, the Huffington Post reported. The Grammy-winning R&B artist was arrested on DUI charge after he was busted by a California Highway Patrol officer.

At around 2:15 a.m. local time, the "Lotus Flower Bomb" singer was pulled over next to an L.A. freeway for speeding in his 2013 BMW X6 and failed his Breathlyzer test, blowing a .10 and .11, TMZ reported. The legal limit in California is .08.

According to TMZ, officers noticed the smell of booze so decided to performed field sobriety tests, which Miguel failed. The 27-year-old singer was arrested and taken to a nearby station, where he was released 90 minutes later on a $5,000 bail, La Prensa reported.

TMZ reported the singer is scheduled to appear in court in September.

Miguel's real name is Miguel Jontel Pimentel. In February, he won a Grammy for Best R&B Song with "Adorn" and was nominated for four other awards, including Best Urban Contemporary Album for "Kaleidoscope Dream."

The singer hit the headlines earlier this year after he performed a stage dive at the Billboard Music Awards. While singing his song "Adorn" live at the Las Vegas ceremony in May, Miguel tried to jump over the crowd in front of him and onto a separate part of the stage, but instead ended up landing on a woman's head, NME reported.

While the woman disappeared into mass of cheering fans, the singer kept on performing, popped back up on his feet and continued to rock the stage. He even put his arms around a nearby fan before getting up trying to cover his tracks and make his fall feel like part of the performance.

According to reports, the woman he hit was backstage with the singer after the performance while icing her arm. Miguel tweeted about the incident afterwards. "Got caught up in the moment, thank goodness Khyati is okay," he posted.

However, the woman's lawyer claimed his client could be brain damaged. According to NME, Khyati Shah's lawyer Vip Bhola said, "Some of the difficulties she's experiencing are cognitive in nature and lead to suspicion of a neurological head injury."

However, a representative for Miguel said that the singer had practiced the stage dive twice and that reports that claimed he had been warned by the awards show's producers not to jump were "completely false."
