Mexican singer Cristian Castro, who has recently been making headlines for announcing he was about to make a drastic change in his career by recording a heavy metal album, has courted controversy once more.

Castro told gossip tabloid FAMA that his friendship with fellow singer Luis Miguel may have ended because they have dated the same women in the past and that he may in fact be a better lover than Luis Miguel.

Castro, who is the son of actress Veronica Castro and comedian Manuel "El Loco" Valdez, confessed that his relationship with Luis Miguel turned sour when the latter broke up with model and host Daisy Fuentes and Castro was there to "comfort her."

"We were very good friends, but since I dated several of his girlfriends, that made him upset. The last straw was when he was upset with Daisy Fuentes, and she came to me and I consoled her. Apparently I gave her everything that he was never able to give her."

In the interview Castro says he admires Luis Miguel's great talent, but goes on to say that all human beings have flaws. He also noted that perhaps El Sol, as Luis Miguel is commonly known, may not be as good as a lover as he thinks he is, because, according to Castro, all of his women ended up with him.

"Mickey is a Don Juan. He is rich, he's famous, talented, but he is very insecure and jealous, and I'm sure I'm a better lover than he is, that's why all of his exes would prefer me over him, but I think it is time to put all those things aside and resume our friendship. We could even do a duet, he knows I love and respect him, and it would be really cool to work together," Castro concluded in the controversial interview.

Luis Miguel, who rarely gives interviews or comments on gossip, has not answered Castro's comments and is not expected to do so.

Cristian recently gave a jampacked concert in Mexico City's National Auditorium, in which he sang his greatest hits in front of a sold out audience. The singer also released a tribute album to singer José José at the beginning of the year, in which he sang the most memorable songs from José's well known repertoire.
