Germany will take on Paraguay in a pivotal friendly on Wednesday.

There is nothing on the line for either side, but the Germans seem excited to get more action in ahead of their World Cup qualifiers in September.

"We're really looking forward to the game," said Germany manager Oliver Bierhoff. "It's our first match of a season which will finish with the World Cup and we want to play with renewed enthusiasm ...The match is important for everyone with a view towards the important qualifiers in September against Austria and the Faroe Islands.

"We want to qualify as quickly as possible and our match against Paraguay is a step towards that goal."

Germany has recently opted for a striker-less style, but Coach Joachim Löw has noted that Miroslav Klose and Mario Gomes will get some time on the field in the friendly.

"I imagine they will each play one half," said Löw of his two top forwards. "Both players will definitely be called into action."

Paraguay has minimal chances of qualifying for the World Cup and can only do so if it manages to win fifth place and earn a playoff with the Asian wildcard team.

According to Bundesliga.com, the lineups could be as follows:

Germany: Neuer - Lahm, Boateng, Hummels, Schmelzer - Khedira, Lars Bender - Müller, Özil, Podolski - Klose

Paraguay: Villar - Candia, da Silva, Aguilar, Melgarejo - Ayala, Riveros, Ortiz, Fabbro - Caballero, Santa Cruz

Prediction: Germany wins 4-0.

Start Time: 2:45 p.m. EST
