Despite the mounting controversy, Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger remains intent on landing Liverpool forward Luis Suarez.
However, according to The Mirror, the coach will proceed cautiously with his striker.
"There is nothing to add to what I said already about the transfer of Suarez," Wenger said. "If it will be done, it will be done in a respectful and amicable way with Liverpool."
Liverpool owner John Henry has repeatedly stated that he will not sell his top player. However, Wenger is not discouraged by the comments.
"I didn't read [Henry's] statements but we'll be faithful to the way we want to behave," he asserted. "To make a transfer happen, you need the agreement of three parties - the buyer, the seller and the player... We know what we want to do. The player, if I look at the statements [does] as well. Liverpool at the moment do not agree. If they change their minds or not, I don't know. We'll respect that."
Wenger also told reporters that he plans to look at other options other than Suarez.
"We are looking at possibilities to strengthen our squad. Suarez is one of the targets. If he's not for sale, he's not for sale. We have to accept that ... Every club has its own way of dealing with things, we have our way and we respect all the other clubs."
One of Wenger's other targets is Brazilian midfielder Luis Gustavo. The Confederations Cup winner recently expressed interest in joining Arsenal.
"Arsenal play a very attractive brand of football and are in the Champions League," Gustavo said. "They also have a very clever manager in Arsene Wenger. Even when Bayern beat them in the last Champions League, you could see they are not pushovers."
