'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' Movie Spoilers: Jim Carrey Playing Carnage Host Cletus Kasady?

Jim Carrey is rumored to be playing the role of Carnage in the upcoming "The Amazing Spider-Man 2."

According to Yahoo, the well-known comedian has been asked to take on the role of the villain. The report does note that he may only appear as the host Cletus Kasady.

There has been  no confirmation on the rumor, but Carrey was on the set of the movie in New York for an undisclosed reason and many believe that he was working on a few scenes. Back on March 13, a fan tweet revealed that the thespian had been on set.

Carrey recently worked on another comic book film "Kick-Ass 2" but has repeatedly stated that he does not want to be associated with it.

A few months ago, the actor tweeted that he would not support the film in light of the Sandy Hook elementary school incident. "I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence," he wrote. "I meant to say my apologies to others involve with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart."

His co-stars have all been forced to address the issue but have all been respectful of his perspective.

''He had a change of heart and everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I totally respect what he was saying. At the end of the day, it's a fictional piece," said lead actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson. "If you are a fan and you saw the first one, you don't want to see the second one and be like, 'Oh, f***ing hell, this is s**t.' It's got to be more ramped up."

He added, "I'm a huge [Quentin] Tarantino fan and if I go see his movie, I'm expecting to see someone's head get sliced off and blood squirt out, and I find that funny. But grotesque violence, I don't like to watch. I mean there's a difference."

Mark Millar, the writer of the original comic book, actually expressed delight in the controversy that Carrey was creating. "People keep saying to me, 'Are you pissed off at Jim Carrey?' No, I'm delighted with Jim Carrey, this is amazing," he said. "For your main actor to publicly say, 'This movie is too violent for me' is like saying, 'This porno has too much nudity. We'll have to go and see this now.'"
