Those who order the upcoming real-time strategy Total War: Rome 2 will get a special bonus from Creative Assembly. The developer is working on their new MOBA, Total War: Arena, and those who buy Total War: Rome 2 will be able to get early access to the beta program along with several other bonuses for the free to play Arena. This news comes from Gamespot.

Along with the early access to Arena's beta, those who take advantage of the offer will receive in-game Legion Armory bonuses that are exclusive to Rome 2 players. In addition, they will gain the rank of Legion in the game, though what exactly this will entail has not yet been made clear.  The Legion Armory bonuses is worth $15 of real world currency for use in the game, so it is definitely worth checking out for Total War fans who want to get into the MOBA genre.

Total War: Arena will offer players the chance to try a new formula for the MOBA genre, giving players only three different characters to choose from in battle rather than a pool of dozens of characters. Lead multiplayer designer Gabor Beressy discussed the differences between Total War: Arena and other MOBA games to Eurogamer, and how the game will still retain the Total War experience despite the switch in genre:

"This is not a MOBA-game...It's not a DOTA clone. How do you define a MOBA game? If you just say it's a multiplayer online battle arena, yes, it is. But it is Total War, so it's not a DOTA 2 clone. We're not going to have lanes and creeps and towers...It is a Total War battle. We are going to keep the major pillars that fit the multiplayer in general. You still have massive armies, epic scale battles and all the spectacle of what Total War can offer, and we're still keeping tactical positioning of units. So everything that makes Total War battles fun is still there,"

Total War: Rome 2 will be available on September 3, but Total War: Arena does not have a release date set for the game. Total War: Rome 2 will use 35 GB of memory for users, and those who preorder the game will get a new faction for the game as day one DLC.
