Amanda Bynes' stay at the psychiatric hospital where she was involuntarily placed in mid-July has been extended, once again.
On Friday, it was revealed the troubled actress is now under a 30-day psychiatric hold initiated by her doctor. Bynes, who has already been hospitalized for 17 days, was originally placed under a 72-hour hold, which was later extended into 14 days.
Judge Glen M. Reiser agreed with her doctor's finding "of her lack of capacity to give consent for medical care." The judge also approved her mother Lynn Bynes's request to take legal control over her daughter's well-being and finances by granting her a temporary conservatorship.
While the actress is hospitalized, however, her doctor will maintain authority over her treatment.
The actress's court-appointed attorney, Mary Shea, told the judge her client does "oppose and object [to the conservatorship]. She doesn't feel there's a need," reports People.
Bynes was involuntarily committed to a psychiatric ward in California following her detention by Ventura County sheriff's deputies, after she set a fire in a driveway of a home close to her parents' house in Southern California.
In court papers, the actress' parents described their daughter as "appearing to have a substance abuse problem" and being "extremely paranoid about being watched, including at our residence."
"She would cover smoke alarms with towels, tape windows shut and cover her car dashboard with cardboard and tape out of fear that cameras were watching her from inside these places," states the documents.
In addition, they said it appeared she has "body image" issues and is obsessed with the idea she and others are "ugly." They also said that the former child star talks "incessantly about cosmetic surgeries that she wants" and they have "received large doctor bills," reports the New York Daily News.
