The Netflix Watch Instantly model is changing the way we watch television. It's genius really. Why would people want to wait, week after week, to watch their favorite show in a specific allotted timeslot that may not even cater to their schedule? With the Netflix platform, they can watch as they please. If they want to space it out in order to maintain the suspense, they can. If they want to watch the entire season in one binge sitting, they can. Arguably the network's breakthrough series is now gearing up for its return, preparing fans for yet another riveting season of the politically charged drama, "House of Cards."
To get things rolling, the show will be moving to the historic court house of Baltimore County in Baltimore, Maryland. While the production team prepares the venue for the onslaught of camera crews, security teams, makeup artists and actor trailers, the show is getting recognition across the board.
House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy recently laid out the Republican agenda on tax reform, energy policy and changes to regulatory agencies last Tuesday on Newport Beach. While doing so, he joked about a call he received from Kevin Spacey, doing research for the TV show "House of Cards." Spacey plays the Democratic majority whip on the show.
"I'll say about Spacey, I actually liked him - philosophically we're different - but do you know why? I believe if Spacey made 100 bucks a week acting he'd still act," McCarthy said. "He does what he believes in. He does what he likes. He portrays this person with all the wrong things you hear about Washington. He literally murders one member. If I could murder one member, I'd never have to worry about another vote."
Spacey's enthralling and keen character will return for the second season of "House Cards" sometime in early 2014, but Netflix has yet to announce an official release date.
