Facebook friends of Derek Medina were greeted with a gruesome photo on their news feed last Thursday. Moments after shooting his wife dead, the South Florida man posted a photo of her bleeding body on the social networking site.

According to Miami-Dade authorities, Medina turned himself in after fatally shooting Jennifer Alfonso, 26, at their home in South Miami. The couple had a heated argument that ended in the woman attempting to "leave" her husband. Police said they found the body of Alfonso when they arrived at the home. The couple's 10-year-old daughter was left unharmed.

The Florida man armed himself with a rifle after an argument broke out between him and his wife in their upstairs bedroom. The 200-pound Medina said that he pointed the gun at Alfonso, prompting her to walk out of the bedroom. She told Medina that as she was leaving him, he confronted her in the kitchen downstairs and she started attacking Medina, according to the arrest affidavit.

Alfonso grabbed a knife and threatened Medina, but the 6-foot-2 man disarmed her. After putting away the knife in a nearby drawer, Alfonso continued punching Medina but the man retaliated with gunshots, the affidavit said.

Medina then logged into his Facebook account, took a photo of his dead wife, and posted a status message, according to the New York Post.

"Im going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys miss you guys takecare Facebook people you will see me in the news."

The post continued to say that his wife was physically abusing him and that he was not going to take any more beatings. His final post on Facebook, at 11:11 a.m., was a shocking photograph of a woman, slumped on the floor with blood on the left side of her body.

"RIP Jennifer Alfonso," was the caption that Medina used on the photograph. The upload lasted for five hours before Facebook took it down. "We took action on the profile - removing the content and disabling the profile, and we reached out to law enforcement. We take action on all content that violates our terms, which are clearly laid out on our site," said a spokesperson from the social media site.
