Despite all the speculation, Eminem did not "tease" new music from his upcoming eighth studio album at G-Shock's "Shock The World 2013" 30th anniversary party in New York City Wednesday night.
Instead, the iconic rapper performed an hour long set feeding the crowd his smash hits from the last two decades, starting with "Won't Back Down" and topping the night off with the timeless "8 Mile" classic "Lose Yourself," reports Rolling Stone. He also performed "The Way I Am," "Sing For The Moment" and "Like Toy Soldiers." However, he gave no sign of when to expect his new LP.
Before Em hit the stage, Shady Records recording artist Yelawolf opened with singles like "Trunk Muzik," reports MTV.
In addition to the exclusive performance, G-Shock also unveiled Eminem's own limited edition, Detroit-inspired G-Shock watch, which will be released this winter. The watch is engraved with his reverse "E" logo and an autograph that reads "Shady," while the band features an outline of the Detroit skyline.
There have been very few details on Shady's new album, but last fall the Detroit native confirmed its existence when he released a Marshall Mathers baseball cap with inscriptions of the years that he dropped each of his solo albums on the side panel, including a notch for 2013.
Alchemist also told MTV News that Em was taking a new direction on this LP.
"That's my boss. I DJ for him and I'm not at liberty to speak on much, but you know his caliber and what he does. He's clearly going to further territories," Alchemist said on "RapFix Live."
