Gareth Bale could cost upwards of £200 million for Real Madrid.
The club is slated to pay a £100 million transfer fee, but reports indicate that the other costs would double the number.
ESPN writes, "Bale would be paid £7.8 million a year in wages over a six-year deal. With Spanish tax laws demanding 52 percent be paid to the government, the winger's salary would be doubled to ensure he still takes home £150,000 a week. Agent's fees and other payments will take the full total of the transfer to over £200 million."
Despite the news, there is no confirmation that the deal will get done soon. The Telegraph reports that the deal may still take some time to complete due to Tottenham Hotspurs remaining strong opponents of the arrangement. Bale has reportedly requested the deal but the English club has not responded.
Real Madrid had been vocal about the news but has seemingly changed its mind on continuing open communications.
"I won't speak about Bale, because I have already angered him (Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas) and I don't want to anger another coach," Real Madrid manager Ancelotti said. "I didn't say anything in particular and I prefer not to talk about this."
Ancelotti is referring to a comment made by Villas-Boas shortly after Ancelotti told reporters that the negotiations were ongoing between the two clubs.
"Carlo is a person I appreciate a lot and we have great respect for each other, but bearing in mind this situation they have decided to make it public," said Villas-Boas, according to ESPN.com. "Normally in situations like this it is scrutinized by the Football Association with lots of care and attention. We have seen lots of people speak about a player that is not theirs and we are due some respect."
