The WWE is the biggest wrestling company in the world, and their yearly video games have always been a highlight for wrestling fans due to their excellent gameplay and wide range of creative modes that allow users to design and use their own roster of WWE superstars.
The WWE series of games were originally published by THQ, but now 2K has bought the rights to the games and will be putting out their first entry into the series, WWE 2K14. The game will be available on October 29 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and now the contents of the game's special edition have been revealed.
The special edition of WWE 2K14 is officially titled "The WWE 2K14 Phenom Edition" and will set back gamers $100 according to Gamespot. The special edition content is based all around one of the most popular wrestlers of all time, The Undertaker. The game comes in a special box made of tin shaped like a coffin, branded with The Undertaker's logo. A limited edition art card will come with the game, signed by he who holds the undefeated streak at Wrestlemania, the Undertaker himself. A movie about the Undertaker and his famous streak, creatively titled The Undertaker-The Streak.
As for actual in-game content, those who buy the Phenom Edition of the game will be able to use The Undertaker in his American Badass gimmick, which will be a separate character from the regular Undertaker attire. The Ultimate Warrior will also be included in the game as the only non-Undertaker bonus for the game, as he will be a playable character for all those who preorder WWE 2K14 no matter what version of the game they buy.
It will be interesting to see how well received the newest WWE video game by critics and a fan of the series after the series was picked up by 2K. Longtime developer Yukes is still in charge of crafting the game, so the transition should not be very disruptive. What past and current superstars will be included with the game is a hot topic, as each year the WWE tries to include the best possible combination of WWE Legends such as Randy Savage and Shawn Michaels and the current superstars to challenge them.
