Today's edition of WWE Smackdown was recorded earlier than usual due to the WWE going overseas this past week. However, for those wishing to avoid spoilers he have a preview of what to expect on tonight's episode, as well as news for the potential return dates of two of the company's biggest stars.

Tonight's main event stems from John Cena being able to pick his opponent for the WWE Championship at Summerslam. Alberto Del Rio believes that he should get the same opportunity for his World Heavyweight Title defense at the event, but new Smackdown GM Vickie Guerrero believes otherwise, booking Christian vs Rob Van Dam vs Randy Orton for the chance to face Del Rio at Summerslam. Other big matches include AJ Lee defending her Divas title against Kaitlyn, as well as CM Punk and Fandango facing off in a rematch of their previous Smackdown main event match from last week.

In other wrestling news, The Rock gave an interview by The Washington Post, in which he was asked about his wrestling career.  The Rock revealed that he is open to another return to the WWE, even though his last match versus John Cena at Wrestlemania caused him to suffer abductor and rectus tendon during the match, which required hernia surgery afterward:

"I'd like to leave it open. But if I'd never wrestle again, I'd be very content with that...Winning or losing never really mattered to me. The whole idea was to put on a great match. Got injured in that match. Still was able to walk out on my own, which I was more happy about. I don't know. We'll see."

If The Rock did put his movie career on hold again, the 41-year-old would most likely come back for a big pay per view like his has in the past, such as Wrestlemania. However, fans may wish for a new superstar to be in the main event picture at Wrestlemania, as the last two main events at the pay per view were of The Rock vs John Cena, so the WWE may go in a different direction.

Another superstar rumored to be returning is The Big Show, who missed his heavily hyped return on Raw due to lingering foot injuries. However, Wrestling Inc is reporting that Big Show could return on the August 5 edition of Raw. Hopefully by then, the massive athlete will be healthy and the WWE can go forward with the rumored Big Show and Mark Henry vs The Shield handicap match for SummerSlam.

Look out for more WWE news and rumors as the WWE get's back on American soil and gets back to their regular television schedule.
