George Zimmerman made another narrow escape from the law over the weekend.

Police officers stopped the 29-year-old volunteer neighborhood watch captain after they caught him speeding on a highway in North Texas Sunday afternoon. When they pulled him over, they discovered that he had a gun in the glove department of his gray pickup truck.

Zimmerman, who was acquitted two weeks ago of killing Trayvon Martin, was pulled over on Highway 80 in Forney, CBS DFW-TV reported. The five-minute stop was captured on the officer's dashboard camera.

The footage shows that he was driving a Honda pickup and Zimmerman saying he was headed "nowhere in particular."

When Zimmerman said he was armed, the officer told him to put the gun in the glove compartment, the CBS affiliate said, citing the police report. The type of firearm that Zimmerman had was not reported, however, it was not the same weapon that he used to kill the unarmed 17-year-old during their altercation in February 2012. As part of a civil rights investigation, the U.S. Justice Department has taken all evidence from the trial, including his licensed 9 mm semiautomatic pistol that he claimed he used in self-defense.

Zimmerman asked the officer whether he recognized him from television and the officer said he did not, reports USA Today.

After checking for any outstanding warrants, the officer let Zimmerman go with a warning.

"Have a safe trip," the officer told Zimmerman.
