If Arsenal wants Luis Suarez, the club will have to add another £10 million to its original offer.

According to ESPN, "Liverpool striker Luis Suarez will not be sold for less than £50 million after the Uruguayan accepted he does not have a £40 million release clause in his contract, according to reports."

Arsenal has already made three bids for the player. The club offered its English rivals £30 million for the Uruguayan, a bid that was promptly rejected. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger then offered £40 million for Suarez's services but found himself denied once more. The club then stated that it would only consider offers over £40 million. In response to the statement, a frustrated Arsenal offered £40,000,001 for Suarez, a that move angered the Reds and prompted owner John W. Henry to tweet, "What do you think they're smoking over there at Emirates?"

Shortly after, Wenger told the press that the club was no closer to signing Suarez.

"We are not close to signing Suarez or anybody else so there's no reason why I should talk about it," he told reporters in Japan, according to ESPN. "There is nothing to say (on the Suarez deal). I have been away now for two or the weeks and it's hard to see how things are advanced because everyone is on tour at the moment and it's very difficult to get in touch with people."

However, the team is desperate for a striker option after the departure of Robin Van Persie in 2012.

Despite the controversy this transfer has caused, Liverpool Coach Brendan Rodgers is happy with how the club and player have conducted themselves.

"It could have unsettled them but it hasn't," Rodgers told the Liverpool Echo. "It's two-fold really. Firstly, it says a lot about their professionalism. The environment we're creating is that the star will always be the team...We want the top players here. But if, for whatever reason we don't, we will always know we can rely on the team and each other. Secondly, it's also testament to Luis. He hasn't been moping about."
