Motorola will finally take the wraps off the upcoming Moto X smartphone Aug.1, and while that's only a couple of days away, we know some of you just can't wait, so here's everything we know about the phone so far.

For starters, the Moto X won't be a high-end phone comparable to the specs found on heavy hitters such as the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One. The phone is rumored to sport a 4.5-inch 720p display, a 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB RAM, and a 2,200mAh battery. The Moto X will also apparently have two separate antennas dedicated strictly to LTE uses. The rear-shooter should come in at 10.5 megapixels, while the front-facing camera stands at 2.1 megapixels.

The Moto X, according to a leaked promo ad, will feature always-on voice commands and a gesture-activated camera. The phone will also do away with LED notifications and display the relevant information onscreen instead.

Motorola seems to be gearing it towards the same audience that the upper mid-range Google-branded LG Nexus 4 targeted last year. The smartphone is rumored to start at $299 for the unlocked 16GB model and run up to $349 for the 32GB variant. Carrier-tied models are said to cost $99 and $149, respectively, with a two-year contract. So far, wireless networks AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular are all tipped to carry the device.

As far as when the Moto X will release, early leaked (but unconfirmed) memos from Verizon showed that Big Red would begin selling the phone Aug. 23, with U.S. Cellular following on Aug. 26. Recently, however, reports are hinting that Motorola is already shipping out units, and that the Moto X could go on sale soon after its Aug. 1 reveal rather than later in the month.

Tell us what you think of the Moto X smartphone in the comments section below and whether you plan on picking one up when it releases.
