Google's new Nexus 7 tablet made a splash in the technosphere with its improved specs and affordability when it was announced July 24. The tablet is now available for purchase through a number of outlets; for those interested, here's where you can place an order ahead of the official July 30 release date.
Before we begin, it's important to note that the 16GB Google Nexus 7 retails for $229, while the 32GB variant costs $269. Both are Wi-Fi-only models, although Google is expected to release a Nexus 7 with 4G LTE connectivity sometime in the future.
American buyers will be able to pick up the Nexus 7 at major retailers such as Radio Shack, Staples, OfficeMax. Google's own Google Play store is finally accepting pre-orders as well, listing the ship by date as July 30. It was also revealed last week that Best Buy, Walmart, and Amazon had all started selling the tablet early to those lucky enough to have been in the know.
Google has also put up sign-up pages for international customers in the following nine countries: United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Canada, and India. Interested buyers won't be able to lay down any cash towards the tablet, but can opt to receive an alert from Google when purchasing becomes available.
The new Google Nexus 7 tablet features a 7-inch 1920X1200 display capable to playing back video at 1080p, a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, and 2GB RAM. Unlike its predecessor, the Nexus 7 refresh comes with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera in addition to a front-facing 1.2-megapixel shooter. The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean tablet also supports NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, and wireless charging.
