Shakira Becomes Global Amabassador for 3D White Brands

Shakira has been named the first global ambassador for the 3D White brands of Oral-B and Crest, according to People En Español magazine.

"As the star of NBC's The Voice, philanthropist, an international icon of beauty and a mother, Shakira represents the true spirit of the multifaceted woman, and she always has a smile on her face," Stephen Squire, director of global sales P&G Oral Care, said in a statement.

He also expressed his satisfaction for having the singer represent the brand. "We are delighted to have such a beautiful and strong woman as Shakira next to our brand."

Shakira released a statement in which she spoke of her excitement for the project, as this new venture will benefit underprivileged children in her native Colombia. "I am excited to work with 3D White as their global ambassador. I've always thought that smiling is one of the best tools in life," the 36 year old said. "It's a very important brand and I know we will be good partners, because of the work that we'll do together to help children in Colombia through my foundation Pies Descalzos."

The singer's foundation builds homes and schools for children in poor neighborhoods in the Colombian cities of Bogota and Medellin and will eventually include other parts of that country as well. Prominent Colombians, like Nobel Prize winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez have praised Shakira's efforts on behalf of children and have joined in on the effort.

As the global brand ambassador, the artist will help launch the new products in the 3D White collection through television and print ads in a campaign that will begin in the fall.

The Colombian singer was recently photographed by paparazzis in Hollywood while dancing in a nightclub with her boyfriend, Barcelona soccer player Gerard Pique. The couple was in Los Angeles after spending a vacation in Hawai with their son, Milan. Photographers also snapped pictures of the singer doning a small bikini on the beach only six months after giving birth for the first time.

Shakira will launch a new music album in the fall and will continue with her duties as a judge on the show "The Voice" next spring.
