Battlefield 4 is one of the biggest games of the fall, with fans eagerly awaiting both the current and next-gen version of the game. Developer DICE has released a steady stream of information about the single player and multiplayer, as well as news about the special features of certain versions of the game. Now DICE has released information about the new version of Battlelog to Gamespot, including new ways players will be able access the service.

DICE will reportedly allow players to check out their Battlelog profile on tablet and mobile devices. This will let players modify their loadouts, check out servers, and see the progress of their friends without having to actually start the game. Battlelog will also act as a second screen for when players are actually playing the game. By having Battlelog on their mobile device or tablet, they will have access to information about the map and the locations of teammates. Another feature will be regional leaderboards, where players can check out who the top dogs are of their local area and see how they stack up compared to everyone else. Custom matches can also be set up on the mobile Battlelog, with DICE able to set up challenges amongst friends for certain tasks, adding a new level of competition to the game.

It will be interesting to see how many Battlefield 4 players take advantage of the mobile versions of Battlelog, and if the service sets an example that similar games start to follow. The tasks available on the tablet and mobile Battlelog are relatively simple, so you can take time throughout the day to do them, rather than holding up a multiplayer match to set up your character. Being able to set up matches and your loadout over the course of the day, then immediately drop into the game and start playing will definitely appeal to hardcore Battlefield players around the world.

Battlefield 4's multiplayer was one of the highlights of E3, and the game figures to be in a heated competition with Call of Duty: Ghosts as both games fight to gain ground on the other early in the PlayStation 4's and Xbox One's life cycles. Look out for more Battlefield 4 and Battlelog information as we approach the game's Oct. 29 release date.
