Zlatan Ibrahimovic announced that he plans to remain in Paris for the upcoming season.

According to ESPN, the Swedish captain plans to fulfill the second year of his three-year contract with the club.

"I'm happy in Paris. Everything that you write and you read in the papers isn't true, but that's the work of the media," said Ibrahimovic told the press. "I'm wearing a PSG shirt today and I'll wear it again against Real Madrid on Saturday. I'll continue to wear it, and I think it looks good on me.

"From the first day I signed at PSG, everything's always gone really well. My presentation was extraordinary," he added. "Luckily, I've been able to repay them for that fantastic welcome by winning the title last season. Now I hope to be able to continue to do that, so I don't think the supporters need to be worried."

"I have a contract with PSG and in principle there's no reason why my situation should change this summer," Ibrahimovic told L'Equipe earlier this week. "In fact I've still not thought about the question. Above all I have to meet my president. We should discuss the details - small as well as big."

Many speculated that the arrival of Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani from Italy could spell the end of Ibrahimovic's time in Paris. Both players led their respective leagues in goal scoring last season and are among the favorites to lead the French league in scoring during the 2013-14 campaign. However, Ibrahimovic emphasized a desire to work with Cavani.

"I've never played with him so we'll have to learn to know each other. He's going to have to familiarize himself with the team, the city and the supporters," said Ibrahimovic. "He's a very good reinforcement."
