Despite Android 4.3 having been announced and already released on a few Nexus devices, owners of the HTC One Google Play edition will be disappointed to know that they will have to wait longer. All we know now is that the update should be coming "soon," according to Google.

Android 4.3 was revealed at a "Breakfast with Sundar Pichai" event Wednesday, and the firmware was immediately pushed out to the Nexus 4, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10. The HTC One Google Play edition is an HTC One running stock Android, meaning there shouldn't be so much of a delay regarding new Android updates since HTC doesn't have to layer its interface on top. Still, Google has stated that HTC will roll out Android upgrades, and for whatever reason, there seems to be a time gap. In either case, most speculation hints that Android 4.3 should release for the HTC One Google Play edition by the middle of August at the latest.

As far as the normal HTC One with HTC's Sense UI is concerned, the handset is currently in the process of receiving Android 4.2.2 around the world. Most major markets already have the update, however, those in the United States and tied to carriers are still in the dark. Verizon is said to launch the HTC One on its network at the beginning of August with Android 4.2.2 already pre-installed, so AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile users might see an update by or around then, as no carrier wants to be left behind.

Android 4.3 contains incremental improvements over Android 4.2.2. Full details can be found at the official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean webpage.
