The rear shell of an iPhone has apparently made a public appearance on YouTube.

The back cover, presented by DetriotBORG, is said to be the plastic shell for the low-cost iPhone that Apple has allegedly been working on.

The design of the rear-shell case is similar to the previous iPhones and even iPod touch devices, with the same headphone jack, microphone, and Lightning port location.

According to Mike from DetroitBORG, the low-cost iPhone will have a plastic shell instead of the metal used in previous iPhones. The case does appear slightly thicker compared to the iPod touch but almost similar, yet wider, than the iPhone 5. The side buttons, such as for the volume, will not be metal either.

The font of the iPhone name is thinner compared to the current iPhone 5, and this was likely done to correlate with the changes made on iOS 7.

In regards of the camera lenses, the chrome rings that are usually seen around the flash and camera lens are non-existent on the low-cost iPhone shell.

Credit to providing the low-case iPhone shell has been given to Sonny Dickson, who has provided images of the shells on Twitter. Latinos Post reported on tweets posted by Dickson. He has tweeted iPhone shells with blue, green, red, white, and yellow covers.

As Latinos Post reported, Jefferies analyst Peter Misek stated production for the low-cost iPhone is underway. The analyst projected Apple will price the low-budget smartphone between $300 and $400. According to Misek, the prices would categorize the iPhone as "mid-tier," which would contrast initial forecasts that the low-cost device would benefit emerging markets such as China and India.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated the low-cost iPhone may launch in early September with approximately 26 million units shipped for 2013, according to Apple Insider.
