The excitement keeps growing for the July 24 Powerball jackpot which now stands at a whopping $166 million. The drawing will take place tonight at 11 p.m. EST.
The odds of winning the jackpot, which is estimated at $97.1 million after taxes, are approximately 1 in 175.2 million. However, players will have better odds at winning a smaller prize which is only a 1 in 32 chance.
It only costs $2 to get in the game, while an additional $1 will allow you to add the Power Play multiplier per play. The $2 tickets allow players to pick five numbers from 1 to 59, and a Powerball number from 1 to 35.
The Powerball game is played in 43 states in addition to the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Depending on the state you're in, the draw entry will close either one or two hours before the actual drawing, according to the Powerball website. The Powerball winning numbers are drawn live every Wednesday and Saturday night.
There was no Powerball jackpot winner during the last drawing on Saturday, July 20. The lucky numbers were: 14, 25, 27, 38, 58, and the Powerball number was 6.
