Nokia has announced its latest Windows Phone 8 mid-range Lumia smartphone with the Lumia 625.

The smartphone is the first Nokia device to have a screen size of 4.7 inches. However, despite the larger screen size, the Lumia 625 has a pixel resolution of 800x480 and 199 pixels per inch.

The low display resolution figures aside, the Lumia 625 sports 5 megapixels for the rear-facing camera with 2,592x1936 pixels. The front-facing camera snaps photographs with Video Graphics Array figures, which means a resolution of 640x480 pixels.

The Lumia 625, at the moment, will only be available in a 8GB internal storage model with 512MB of RAM. A microSD card slot is included for an additional 64GB of storage.

With a battery capacity of 2,000mAh, the same as the Lumia 920 and Lumia 1020, the smartphone offers up to 15.2 hours of talk time when under a 3G network.

Unlike other Lumia devices, the Lumia 625 does not have NFC. The wireless connectivity for the latest smartphone includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, and microUSB version 2.0.

Windows Phone 8 smartphone utilizes the Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor with 1.2GHz Krait.

Continuing the tradition of offering colorful models, the Lumia 625 will be available in black, green, orange, white, and yellow variants.

According to Nokia, the Lumia 625 will have a suggested retail price of €220 before taxes, which is approximately $291 USD.

Nokia did not disclose such information about a potential U.S. releaste date. However, the Lumia 625 is set to rollout in Asian Pacific, Africa, China, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East by the third quarter of this year.

"With our largest smartphone screen to date, the Nokia Lumia 625 is a perfect example of how Nokia is delivering leading smartphone innovation and experiences at every price point," said Nokia Smart Devices Executive Vice President Jo Harlow.

"The transition to 4G is gathering pace," said Nokia Product manager Vinay Jayakumar to Nokia Conversations. "With a super-fast internet connection, there's a real demand for big, beautiful screens that help bring all the content to life - this is where the Nokia Lumia 625 arrives with a really competitive price to match."

Feedback about the latest Lumia smartphone has been mixed from spectators. YouTube comments from the Lumia 625's promotional video provided different opinions.

‪Gorskah: "Excellent move Nokia, excellent. Just make your products available in more countries, that's the MOST IMPORTANT THING."

‪arpakyna: "This will probably sell like cupcakes once people start getting over their WP8 hang-ups. It's an awesome OS!"

At Nokia Conversations, the debate continued.

Aiyk Richie: "The phone packs the most desirable specs, and features in a handy lovable shape.. good battery for 4G, very thoughtful.. i need this.. this might be the Lumia for me.. but if Nokia wants to win this.. only the price would tell."

GUggenheim: "One of the best looking Lumias out there but a 800x480 resolution and only 512mb RAM? I think I can stick with my 820 but that's a beautiful device nevertheless."

Hradayesh Nimavat: "Nice to see Nokia acknowledging the trend of big screen smartphones with ok hardware specifications though the design resembles the richness of Lumia high end devices and also vibrant color options position Lumia 625 as high-mid range device compare to similar screen size mid-range android devices."
