Andre Villas-Boas is adamant about the fact that Gareth Bale is not leaving Tottenham Hotspur this coming season.

The coach shot down rumors that the Welshman had demanded a move to Real Madrid.

"On Gareth, I want to repeat what I was telling you last season and what I was telling you from the beginning of pre-season so I cannot extend myself," the Spurs boss said from Hong Kong. "He's a player that we are willing to continue to have, he's a Tottenham player, he's one of the most fantastic players in the world at the moment and we are counting on him for the future.

"He is not for sale at any price, and there has been no offer from anyone."

According to Mail Online, "The Spanish paper claim that Real are closing in on a six year deal for Bale worth £8.5million a year. Marca also claim that Bale has told Spurs chiefs that he wants to go to the Bernabeu."

Real Madrid has been heavily linked with the club but there has been no news of a formal offer from the club despite constant comments about the player from top team officials.

I think Real Madrid have made their admiration of Gareth Bale very clear - and it has been made clear that we would not be put off by the cost of the player," said Madrid sporting director Zinedane Zidane in an interview with the Sunday People. "But if Gareth feels now is the time to move then he has to have a private discussion with his club and express that he wants to leave."

"Bale is one of Europe's great players and Real Madrid always likes great players," Real Madrid president Florentino Perez stated during an interview with Punto Pelota. "We have to improve our squad but we have to do it with tranquility - and we'll do that in the next weeks."
