'Dexter' Season 8 Spoilers: Cast Talks Past Characters, Death and Season Finale at Comic-Con

Fans may not want to think about it, but the final season of Showtime's hit serial killer drama "Dexter" is well underway. According to the show's cast, which appeared in their final San Diego Comic-Con appearance on Thursday, the show has already wrapped up production.  "Dexter" stars Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter were joined by cast mates, creators and several surprise guests during its panel session Thursday night to say goodbye to fans after eight successful seasons.

Despite wrapping up production last week, the show's executive producer Sara Colleton told fans it hasn't hit her yet that the show is over, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Hall, who plays serial killer Dexter, said that although he's aware it's over, "our bodies, five months from now, will start knocking at the door wondering why we're not doing 'Dexter' again."

While it may seem surreal for the cast, the show isn't over for fans just yet. One thing fans are eagerly awaiting is the return of Dexter's ex Hannah (played by Yvonne Strahovski). The Australian actress, who also joined the panel, initially said she couldn't reveal anything about her return, but inadvertently spilled some secrets anyways, TVLine reported.

"We don't know if her revenge..." Strahovski began, before correcting herself. "...her motivation is going to be." She added jokingly, "I didn't give anything away! We don't know if it's going to be for revenge or love."

Meanwhile, actress Jennifer Carpenter reiterated her desire for her character Deb to die. E! Online reported that the actress said, "I wanted and want Deb to die. As an actor, it's because I love her. It's a little like how Michael treats his victims: I want her to go to the bottom of the abyss instead of in my head for eight years after the show is over and wonder 'what if?' and I'm calling [showrunner] Scott [Buck] to write her a scene."

It may be the end of "Dexter," but Hall playfully teased that it may not be the end of the Morgan serial killers. "In 25 years, there's going to be a new series called 'Harrison,' and Dexter will have died, and [he's] going to be his dead, internalized father."

"Dexter" airs on Sundays at 9 p.m on Showtime.
