Mexican player Erick "Cubo" Torres made a decisive goal in the second half of the game between Chivas USA and Toronto FC that effectively put an end to a 14-game losing streak for his team. The final score of the matchup was 1-0.

The game marks Torres' return to soccer. The Mexican player is looking to get back to the form that made him one of the most solid and consistent players when he first debuted with the Chivas of Guadalajara in 2010.

Torres' goal came near the end of the game, when there were only 11 minutes left. He got a pass from Tristan Bowen, who slided through three of the defenders. El "Cubo" took the opportunity and took the shot from outside of the area. Toronto defenseman Agbossoumonde deflected the ball, which confused the goalie, and the ball ended up in the net.

Chivas USA had not won a match since March 30. The victory came despite player Eric Avila's expulsion, which forced the team to play with only 10 men for the larger part of the game. Toronto, who has a less than stellar record of two wins, ten losses, and seven tied games, has only won one game of their last seventeen match-ups.

Cubo had another great chance to score in the game when he received another pass from Bowen that managed to evade the three Toronto defenders. Torres kicked the ball but goalkeeper Joe Bendik managed to deflect the shot.

Torres debuted in the Chivas Rayadas de Guadalajra in 2010 as a promising young player after an extraordinary run as an amateur player. During Clausura 2011, he made six goals, falling short of Marco Fabian as top scorers for the team. Comparisons have been made to former Chivas player and current Machester United forward Javier Hernandez due to their playing style and body types.

After a lackluster couple of seasons in 2012 and 2013 in which Cubo only scored once in 16 appearances, Chivas decided to loan him to their affiliate team Chivas USA.

El Cubo made his debut on Wendsday alongside Carlos Bocanegra, the former captain of the United States men's national soccer team. Coach Jose Luis Del Real said he expected the pairing to work well and that he is certain that it will help overcome the team's most recent losing streak.
