Summer break in Mystic Falls is heating up. Our favorite vampires return to the "Vampire Diaries" set to beginning season 5 filming as they face the brutal summer heat.
One photo in particular shows Candice Accola as she arrives at Whitmore College. She looks happy and cheerful as ever as she begins the first day of her new life as a college student. In the background, you can catch the first glimpse of the Whitmore campus. Dobrev posted the photo on her Twitter account with the tagline, "Back to School - first day of shooting The Vampire Diaries Season 5 w/ miss @CandiceAccola !" Check out the photo below.
So let the vampire drama unfold. Filming has begun, which means new episodes are right around the corner. In anticipation of its return, details and other rumors from production are making their way down from the set.
According to Wet Paint, fans will meet another of Stefan's ex-girlfriend's in the forthcoming season. Tessa is a "nobleman's daughter" and has spent centuries looking for the Salvatore brothers and has no interest in rekindling a lost romance. She'll make her debut in episode 3. Right off the bat she'll shake things up when she steals Damon's daylight ring. Uh oh. Hopefully this won't complicate things between him and Elena, but who are we kidding, of course it will.
As for the premiere, Caroline will meet a new love interest to help erase any memories of Tyler. Kendrick Sampson will play Jesse, the new stud and fellow student who Elena and Caroline meet on their first day at Whitmore. The show is certainly wasting no time introducing new and potentially heavy hitting characters as Caroline will immediately take well to Jesse's charm and form her first Whitmore crush.
When asked about a potential appearance from Tyler, TVLine responded, "Tyler who? There's nothing like a cute older college boy to make you temporarily forget the show's MIA hybrid hunk. That's what happens when Caroline meets Jesse, a hot, smart, confident and disarmingly sweet upperclassman at Whitmore. Among the other fresh faces in the season opener: smartypants Megan, who attends Mystic Falls High's 1950s dance and attempts to charm the pants off Jeremy, and Eastern European beauty Nadia, who crosses paths with Matt and Rebekah at a Prague bar - and comes on to both of them?! - before delivering an ominous warning to Stefan about 'The Originals.'"
