The Nokia Lumia 520 has become the most utilized Windows Phone smartphone in the world, according to new data.

Based on data from 836 Windows Phone apps with the AdDuplex SDK v.2 on July 10, AdDuplex revealed the Lumia 520 as the most popular Windows Phone device. The Lumia 520 was in fifth place last month, but jumped to first with 13.3 percent of the market share.

Sliding into second place is Nokia's flagship Lumia 920, which garnered 11.8 percent of the figures.

The Lumia 620 and Lumia 710 tied for third, with each taking 9.6 percent of the market respectively.

Continuing the Lumia streak and rounding the top five is the Lumia 800 with 8.4 percent.

Despite launching simultaneously with the Lumia 520 at the 2013 Mobile World Congress last February, the Lumia 720 ranked eighth with 4.6 percent.

The only non-Lumia device to crack the AdDuplex's top 10 was the HTC 8X. The HTC Windows Phone 8 device amassed 3.7 percent of the July 10 figures.

Showing the dominance of Nokia and Microsoft's Windows Phone 8, AdDuplex calculated the Finnish-based company represented 85.4 percent of mobile operating system manufactuers, easily toppling HTC's 11.5 percent, Samsung's two percent, and Huawei's 1.1 percent.

"Nokia continues its domination in the Windows Phone 8 ecosystem and has gained another percent compared to last month," noted AdDuplex. "And there's very little hope HTC or Samsung will make a serious comeback in the nearest future. I guess only Huawei could move the needle with W2 when it's released in markets where the Chinese phone maker has a strong presence."

In comparison to its predecessor, Windows Phone 8 increased 8 percent to 61 percent, while Windows Phone 7 accounted for 39 percent.
