Fashion maven Tyra Banks has joined an elite group of other fashion-forward celebs in her recent backing of The Hunt, an online shopping start-up company.

According to a report from Headlines & Global News, The Hunt is "made for social media-driven shoppers." It's an online shopping community where users who find items they like on sites like Pinterest, Instagram and Tumblr can "crowdsource" items of interest, posting exact items along with similar pieces at different price points to help other users find these fashion gems.

"It truly sucks to discover a great style item but not be able to find and buy it. The Hunt solves that fashion dilemma in a fun and innovative way," Banks told Women's Wear Daily. "What I love about The Hunt is that women help other women find their perfect [head-to-toe] outfit."

Banks goes on to describe how excited she is to be part of this "new approach to collective retail and styling."

Banks, who reportedly showed a recent interest in backing start-up tech companies, has formed Fierce Capital, LLC, an investment branch of her Tyra Banks Company.

Yahoo! News reports that The Hunt was created by Tim Weingarten and Simon Peck, who were adamant about attracting investors with relevant experience. The site currently has 300,000 registered users and 250,000 hunt submissions.

Banks, whose investment amount is undisclosed, joins fellow investors Ashton Kutcher and Madonna's manager Guy Oseary. Kutcher put forth $700,000 to provide the site and Banks's investment will go toward improving the site's functionality and engaging new users, according to CEO Weingarten.

"[Tyra] tends to be extremely active and in no way a passive investor," Weingarten said. "From her acumen in style and fashion to her intuitive and innate sense on how the community should be guilded over time, she has lots of ideas."
