After one of the most surprising Money in the Bank Pay-Per-Views in recent memory, the fallout from the pivotal show starts Monday on WWE Raw from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The WWE's Five-Points Preview on their site points to several major storylines to follow. One of them is the first of two new Money In the Bank winners, Damien Sandow. The scholarly wrestler shocked the world Sunday when he betrayed his friend and tag team partner Cody Rhodes during the six-man MITB match as he grabbed the coveted briefcase from atop the ladder to secure his guaranteed title shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. Sandow may have won a title shot at a time of his choosing, but had he lost his friend and fellow Team Rhodes Scholars member in the process?
CM Punk suffered 13 stitches during his loss at the Money in the Bank All-Stars match, but perhaps no wound was more grievous than the emotional one he suffered after his longtime friend and confidant Paul Heyman betrayed and attacked him with a latter, costing him the match when the championship briefcase was in reach for the former two-time MITB winner. With his friendship with Heyman severed and "the Beast" Brock Lesnar scheduled to be in attendance, will "The Best in the World" be looking to get his hands on Heyman Monday night?
John Cena once again emerged victorious in his WWE Championship match against Mark Henry, but with Randy Orton having won the All-Stars Money in the Bank briefcase for his guaranteed WWE title shot, Cena may now have to deal with one of his deadliest rivals possessing both one of the most lethal finishers in the game--the RKO--as well as a title shot he can cash in at anytime. Add that to Henry and the returning Rob Van Dam in the mix, and the Cenation leader could have his hands full once again in defending his title.
It looks like the end could be near for AJ Lee and Dolph Ziggler's relationship after AJ cost "The Showoff" his World Heavyweight Championship match against the retaining champ, Alberto Del Rio at Money in the Bank. With his title rematch having gone up in flames against his bitter rival Del Rio, will Ziggler still be able to get back into title contention? And will he decide to stick with AJ or take a page out of the Divas Champion's last few romantic flings and kick her to the curb?
And Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt Family is due for a return after taking out Kane last week in one of the most anticipated Raw debuts in recent memory. The twisted family sent a strong message by taking out the Big Red Monster and former two-time world champion; what mayhem do they have in store this week?
Meanwhile, the wrestling world is buzzing about the results of Sunday's Money in the Bank PPV from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Penn.
The Shield's Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns defeated the Usos in their WWE Tag Team Title match.
Damien Sandow stunned the world by winning the Money in the Bank world title briefcase, defeating an impressive field that included Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, Dean Ambrose, Fandango, Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro. Though Sandow has yet to win a singles title of any kind in WWE, he now has the ability to cash in and take one of the biggest prizes of all in the vaunted World Heavyweight Championship.
In the Intercontinental Championship match, champion Curtis Axel retained over The Miz in a competitive match.
In one of the most anticipated Divas Championship matches in recent memory, AJ Lee retained her Divas title by defeating former friend and current rival Kaitlyn via submission using the Black Widow lock.
Ryback defeated Chris Jericho.
In the World Heavyweight Championship match, champion Alberto Del Rio retained after defeating Dolph Ziggler by disqualification after AJ interfered and hit Del Rio in the face with a title belt.
In the WWE Championship match, WWE Champion John Cena retained his title when he defeated Mark Henry via submission with the STF.
And in the All-Stars Money in the Bank ladder match for a guaranteed WWE Championship shot, nine-time world champion Randy Orton took home the briefcase after beating a star-studded field of former world champions that included the returning Rob Van Dam, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Sheamus and Christian.
WWE.com reported that Van Dam and CM Punk suffered multiple stitches following the match, Punk needing 13 stitches while Van Dam received 14.
