Motorola has been slowly building the buzz for its upcoming Moto X handset, and the novel concepts the smartphone will bring to the market is definitely garnering some attention before its release date, which could be near the end of August.

According to a leaked Verizon internal memo the Motorola Moto X smartphone will land on the carrier on August 23. There has been no confirmation from either Motorola or Verizon regarding the date or the validity of the memo, but previous rumors have whispered about an August release for the phone. There's also no word on whether the Moto X will be a Verizon exclusive, or if it will launch across all major U.S. carriers. Verizon typically releases phones later than T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint, so if the phone is coming to the other networks, it could officially launch slightly earlier.

So far, there aren't many official details about the Moto X phone other than that it will be customizable. Buyers won't be able to tweak hardware specs, but will instead get to choose the color and construction material of the phone as well as some of the preinstalled software. The Moto X will be the first smartphone to be assembled in the United States, at a plant in Texas, although many parts will come from overseas.

Rumored specs for the phone include a 720p display, a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, a 10-megapixel "Clear Pixel" rear-facing camera, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. What's most interesting, however, is the phones array of sensors, which will tell the Moto X whether it's in your pocket or barreling down the road at 60 miles per hour in a car. The smartphone will then, according to Motorola, adjust its functionality accordingly. The phone should also run the latest version of Android at the time of its release.
