Daft Punk to Release New Music With 'Get Lucky' Collaborator Nile Rodgers [Video]

The album may be out, but the ruckus isn't over. For years, fans eagerly awaited Daft Punk's Random Access Memories, but then upon its release they were hit with a bittersweet sensation. Their dreams were fulfilled, their prayers answered, but at the same time, they were left with an uneasy feeling. When is the next time Daft Punk will release a new album? It took them eight years last time around, so will we have to wait another eight for something new? As incredible and beautiful as the album was, the hype surrounding it was half the allure.

But now it looks like fans may Get Lucky. Nile Rodgers, one of the many influential collaborators that worked with the duo on the new album, recently revealed that there may be new material on the horizon. The guitarist recently uncovered some old Chic, Johnny Mathis and solo masters that he wants to finish and release and he wants a little help doing so.

"Daft Punk wants to do at least one of them with me, so that should be very cool," Rodgers said during an interview with DJAZZtv. "Because they respect the music. They understand." Watch the entire interview below.

Daft Punk's smash single, "Get Luck," which features Rodgers, recently became the first 2013 single to top one million sales in the U.K., according to the Official Charts Company. It's only the 136th single in 60 years to join the million-sellers club. It claimed the honor on its 69th day on sale in the U.K., leaving plenty of time to keep raking in the numbers.

Rodgers was blown away by its success. "The fact that 'Get Lucky' has sold a million copies in the U.K. is one thing, but to do it in 69 days? I'm awestruck," Rodgers told the Official Charts Company. "I've had big records and No. 1s. I have had records that were No. 1 in the United States but nowhere else... I've had records which have done well [in the U.K.], but not in the States. But to have this ubiquitous record that's a hit everywhere... It's amazing to me. I'm out on the road and I can hear it wherever I go. I'm flabbergasted."

Fans will have to wait to see how the musical masterminds work together in the future, but if "Get Lucky" is any indication, it's sure to be magnificent.
